The Roland XV-2020 is a ROMpler and is the next-generation version of the JV-1010 and contains the sounds of the XV-3080 in a smaller, less editable, less expandable half-rack chassis. The synth engine allows layering of up to 4 ROM tones in a single voice, although with reduced polyphony (16), since the polyphony should be thought of as the number of simultaneous tones available rather than the number of notes available.
It has both rear RCA and 1/4" stereo outputs plus a front-panel 1/4" stereo headphone jack.
With its tiny screen and lack of front-panel editing controls patches must be edited via a software editor. Editing software was released for both OSX and Windows 2000/XP.
The XV-2020 can be expanded via the Roland SRX series expansion boards and has two SRX expansion slots.
