The Yamaha DX7 IIFD is a later version of the Yamaha DX7 with a bi-timbral sound engine, patch memory, a better MIDI implementation, and a floppy drive. Just like the DX7S, it also has an improved DAC with 15 bits of resolution instead of the original DX7's 12 bits. The DX7IID is a variant without the floppy drive.
The built-in 3.5" floppy drive can store up to 40 patches on each 720 kilobyte (2DD) disk and can also store patches on a RAM4 cartridge.
