The CZ-5000 is based on phase distortion (PD) synthesis, which is similar to FM synthesis. It is nearly identical to the Casio CZ-3000, but with an 8-track sequencer added. When recording sequences in real-time, the sequencer note memory is halved to 3500. It uses 3 "D" batteries for its memory backup.
