The Yamaha W5 is an AWM2-based synthesizer workstation. It is also available in a 61-key version with otherwise identical capabilities as the W7. A version 2 was released with sequencer improvements and more presets.

There were four expansion boards available for the W5 and W7:

• WEMB01 - Concert Grand (4MB)
• WEMB02 - Vintage Sounds (4MB)
• WEMB03 - Rhythm Sounds
• WEMB04 - Dance Massive
