The SC-55 is a half-rack tone generator and the first of the Roland Sound Canvas series. It is nearly but not quite fully General MIDI Level 1 compatible. It was also available in sound card form as the Roland SCC-1 and tabletop form as the SC-155. A revised version was released as the SC-55mkII
