The Korg MS-20 synthesizer was released in 1978. It is a two-oscillator monophonic analog synth with connections that are hard-wired but rewire-able using patch cords to change connections, much like an old-time telephone operator. It has a 36-key keyboard, an assignable modwheel, two resonant VCF filters (high-pass, low-pass, notch, and band-reject), sample-and-hold, noise generation, and a pitch/CV converter.

The MS-20 is known to have been used by Solar Fields, Add N to (X), Air, Aphex Twin, Apollo 440, Astral Projection, Vince Clarke, Coldcut, Daft Punk, Die Krupps, Einstuerzende Neubauten, Front 242, Front Line Assembly, Hardfloor, Jean-Michel Jarre, KMFDM, The Legendary Pink Dots, Mr. Oizo, William Orbit, Portishead, Prodigy, Skinny Puppy, Stereolab, and Luke Vibert.

An updated modern (but smaller) version was released as the MS-20 mini.
