Sequential Circuits

Sequential Circuits was founded by Dave Smith. The company was one of the developers of the MIDI standard in the 1980s. The company went out of business in 1987 and was purchased by Yamaha. Yamaha shut down Sequential Circuits in 1989, but still retained rights to the name.

Dave Smith later founded Dave Smith Instruments, which later became Sequential after Dave Smith regained rights to the name.
