The RM1x is a late-1990s "groovebox" meant for electronic music production. Its closest competitor was the Roland MC-505. It has a built-in floppy drive for saving and loading data.

It has more than 7,000 preset phrases, and 256 phrases are user-programmable. User programmable patterns can have up to 256 measures, and patterns are grouped into sets of 16 sections. Although the tone generator only has 32 notes of polyphony, the sequencer can record 64 notes of polyphony.
