The A5000 was for sale at the same time as the Yamaha A4000 and was the higher-end option of the two with higher polyphony and more effects processors.
Its memory can be upgraded using standard 72-pin SIMM modules in matched pairs of 4, 8, 16, or 32MB each. The modules should have an access time of 70 nanoseconds or less.
It also supports installing an internal 3.5 inch 40-pin IDE or 50-pin SCSI hard drive. Seagate drives are the best-supported with models ST34311A (4.3 GB), ST36421A (6.4 GB), and ST38421A (8.4 GB) supported. Some Quantum Fireball and Western Digital drives also work. Installing an internal Zip drive is also supported.
