The SM57 is one of the most popular microphones in history, and has been produced for more than 50 years. It is very popular for its combination of price, quality, and durability. It uses the same capsule as the SM58, but in a different housing.

The SM57 handles high sound pressure levels well and is very popular as an instrument microphone, and works well with everything from acoustic guitars to drums to guitar amplifiers. It is also popular as a vocal microphone, but less so than the SM58.
