The LinnDrum improves on the LM-1 by including crash and ride cymbal sounds. However, it has fewer tuning capabilities than the LM-1. It was less expensive than the LM-1 and more were manufactured, with about 5,000 units being sold. Although it is a pre-MIDI device, aftermarket MIDI retrofit kits were produced. Its samples were 8-bit, sampled between 28 kHz and 35 kHz.
