Adobe Audition was originally an audio file editor known as Cool Edit, released by Syntrillium software. Cool Edit Pro added multitrack audio editing capabilities and was one of the first applications to support MP3 encoding of audio files. Adobe purchased the program in 2003 and rebranded it as Adobe Audition.
